JOHOR BARU: The body of a 14-year-old girl was found lying face down near the exit to a mall’s carpark along the Skudai highway here.
Liaw Mei Li was found motionless by a passer-by at 11am yesterday.
Her mother, a 42-year-old hairdresser who refused to be named, said the last time she saw the secondary school dropout was when she was leaving her home yesterday morning.
“She told me she wanted to buy some contact lenses at the mall,” the mother said at the Hospital Sultanah Aminah mortuary.
She said a friend of her daughter’s called her to tell her about Mei Li’s death.
“I rushed to the scene and no words could describe the feeling when I saw my daughter’s bloodied face,” the mother said.
She said her daughter was a filial girl and worked as a waitress at a restaurant.
Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Taib Ahmad said the girl is believed to have fallen to her death from the sixth floor of the shopping complex.
“The case has been classified as sudden death,” he said.
