MERSING: An army personnel who was conducting parachute training in Kem Iskandar here ended up being stuck in a 20m tree.

Responding to a distress call at around 5.55pm yesterday, a team of seven from the Mersing Fire and Rescue Department rushed to the spot.

The found the man and his parachute stuck in the tree.

The department’s operation commander Johar Sanusi said they rescued the victim, Mohd Razi Ibrahim, 32, by extending a ladder for him to climb down.

“We helped him down first before trying our best to save the parachute from any damage,” he said.

He said the victim had failed to control his parachute due to technical factors and landed in the tree.

“The victim was unhurt but the camp’s medical team is expected to continue to monitor his situation for any internal injuries”, he said.
